Planning a getaway to Surfside Lodge? Get ready for an unforgettable experience! This charming lodge is not just a cozy retreat; it also serves as a gateway to a variety of exciting activities, all within walking distance. Whether you love nature, are a foodie, or simply want to relax, you'll find something that suits your tastes. Check out these top five activities when you stay at Surfside Lodge.

1. Sunrise Stroll Along the Scenic Beach

Begin your day with an invigorating stroll along the picturesque beachfront. The gentle sand and calming waves provide a tranquil setting for a morning excursion. It's ideal to be on the beach by 5 am. Witnessing the sunrise over Pavones is an essential experience during your visit!

While you’re beachcombing, look for unique shells (look do not take please) or interesting pieces of driftwood that carry stories of the ocean. A little exploration can lead to some delightful finds. Plus, don’t forget your camera to capture the stunning coastal views!

2. Self guided tour to King Louis Waterfall

Just a short walk from Surfside Lodge leads you to an incredible waterfall. Immerse yourself in the beautiful, pristine waters. Hike past about five waterfalls before reaching the majestic King Louis, standing approximately 30 meters tall. It's a truly serene oasis, with the added bonus of discovering special mineral-rich mud for a mud bath. You can also enjoy a shrimp pedicure!

How to Reach King Louis Waterfall 💧🌴

Start from our house and head in the direction of the beach. King Louis is located just two streams away, before reaching the final beach.

• Cross the first stream.

• After crossing the second stream, turn right as the road curves – you'll notice a sign that reads “Catarata” (waterfall).

• Follow the trail uphill, and you will pass approximately 3–4 smaller waterfalls along the route.

• Continue until you arrive at the main King Loui waterfall, which stands about 25 meters tall.

3. Walk to the very end of the Peninsula!

Explore the beaches during low tide; our favorite spot in the area is known as La Endija or "The Crack." It's a truly unique location. Ensure your safety by timing your visit with the low tide. Don't miss touching "the wall," where a spring supplies most of the Cabo Matapalo community with water. You can rinse off with this exceptionally clean water. Extra points if you manage to find and open a coconut! :)

5. Go to Martinas Friday night market

Martina's restaurant/bar is a local legend, offering the only nightlife in the area. Beginning at 4 PM, there's a market featuring local crafts, special chocolates, local soaps, and my favorite—handmade ice cream. If you're lucky, there are sometimes dance events where you can enjoy the jungle groove, typically starting around 9 PM after the market closes. Martina's is open from December to August!
